TOM ODHIAMBO ONYANGO: LL.B (Hons.), Nbi., Diploma in Law (KSL), Advocate, Commissioner for Oaths, Notary Public
I attended high school at Alliance High School, Kikuyu and thereafter joined the University of Nairobi in 1983, from where I graduated in 1986 with an Bachelor of Laws (LL. B) Second Class Honors (Upper Division) Degree. Thereafter I joined the School of Law and was admitted to the Bar as an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya on 27th November, 1987. I have been in private legal practice since then.
PRACTICE: I did my Articles of Pupilage in 1986/1987 with the law firm of Archer & Wilcock Advocates and thereafter practiced with the said firm for one (1) year, dealing mainly with insurance matters as well as commercial law, insurance claims on behalf of insurers, debt recoveries and civil litigation. Thereafter I worked with the law firm of R. A. Kassam & Company Advocates for the period August, 1989 until April, 1993, when I left to form the law firm of Onyango, Ohaga & Company Advocates jointly with John M. Ohaga. The said firm ceased to exist as such as a result of the merger of Onyango, Ohaga & Co. Advocates with Ochieng’ Oduol Advocates in 2002.
I am a Partner in Ochieng’, Onyango, Kibet & Ohaga where I am in charge of the commercial department and deals primarily with bank security documentation, commercial law including contract documentation, mergers and acquisitions and conveyance of property. I have been involved in major property transactions and extensive work in mergers and acquisitions. I advise a large number of businesses in Kenya and sit on the boards of a number of companies. I attended many international conferences on law, locally and abroad. Apart from being an advocate, I am a Commissioner for Oaths and a Notary Public and a Certified Public Secretary.

I am married to Dorcas Onyango and we have two daughters. I serve as the Provincial Chancellor of the Anglican Church of Kenya, a position whose primary function is to serve as the Legal Advisor to the Archbishop of the said Church. I was previously been an active member of the Round Table Movement. |
